From Cape Town you will travel along the scenic Clarence Drive Route (5 km past Rooi Els) it forms part of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve.
This area has a unique smell. I like to open my helmet visor a little so that I can whiff the scent of it. Just not too much otherwise one could get bugged in the face.!
The road has plenty of gentle bends and one can see far ahead at a time. Great for a bit of speed.
Pringle Bay is well known for its Indigenous Fynbos Flora and has more plant species per square meter than anywhere else on the planet. So if you need to stop to take a pee - have a good look around when you do. The bush is fascinating.
Tip: Pack your binoculars. On the route to the world famous whale-watching town of Hermanus, Pringle Bay is an ideal place to view the whales during the whale season from June to December every year.
The nearby town of Betty's Bay hosts the Jackass Penguin Colony. Smelly spot, but worth checking out at least once. More of that on the Betty's Bay page (coming soon).
