Route 62

A long and diverse route to take on the eastern side of the Western Cape, South Africa. Gravel & tarred roads to choose from. Never-ending beautiful scenes & pit-stops for your bike ride on Route 62.

This is another spectacular route to travel down. My neighbours and I recently went on Route 62 and the photos taken were specifically of the Oudsthoorn pass.

They have a GS and a ZX14, and they decided to take the GS onthis trip so that they could travel down the old passthrough Oudtshoorn.

We travelled from Cape Town via Mossel Bay to Georgeand spent the weekend there. Returning to Cape Town viaOudtshoorn. The town of Oudtshoorn is well known for the Cango Caves as well as the ostrich farms. In fact, the town lives off the revenue that the ostrich meat, leather and feathers brings to it.

The route travels through a beautiful mountain pass with twists and turns. One has an option of travelling on the old dirt road or the modern tarred pass. On either route there is plenty of places to stop and take in the sun and the scenery - and I suggest you do this. You will feel so overwhelmed by the beauty that surrounds you.

As you leave Oudtshoorn on route home, you can stop off at various establishments for a bite to eat and a drink or three as it gets pretty hot out on Route 62.

One of the more famous pit stops is of course "Ronnie Sex Shop". Believe me, all those who have travelled onthis road, have stopped to refuel their bodies here.
