Ceres via Goudini
Experience a scenic motorbike ride en route to Ceres in the Western Cape via the Gouidini Spa. Proceed out of Cape Town on the N1. Most of the bikers meet at the N1 One Stop for a warm cup of coffee and to catch up with old friends. From there one heads towards the Huguenot Tunnel, but as bikers would have it, you won't go through the tunnel but over the pass.

This pic was taken on the Du Toits Kloof pass. We stopped for a
few minutes for a smoke break and to take In the awesome views.
There are some awesome twists and turns as you go over the mountain pass. We often stop on the pass just to have a look back at the surrounding farms, or Paarl rock etc. After leaving there, one gets to the end of the pass and again
you have so many options. Just after the trout farm, what follows are some very fast sweeping corners with mountains on either side. If you go early you can really hang off the bike at speeds of 200 km/h plus. Just awesome.!!

As you can see the road twists through the mountain. It is really an incredibly beautiful sight to see.
You can either take the "Goudini Spa" off-ramp (Robertson) or carry on straight toward the N1 Shell Ultra. My personal choice, for some more great roads that are generally quiet, I suggest you go past Goudini Spa and Slanghoek Wine Estate. One is surrounded by mountains with some of the most beautiful wine farms along the way.

The flyover bridge in the back ground is what you would take if
you go through the tunnel. But which biker would do that. You miss out on most of the twisties if you do that.
The road eventually narrows and you cross the Breede River.
Always a nice place to stop. Shortly thereafter you have to turn left and +- 3kms further you get to a T-Junction. Turning left will take you to one of the finest (and famous) Bike "stops" called Calabash Bush Pub & Restaurant. Great to stop for a beer and some good food. Back to the route... Turn right at the T-Junction and you get some more great twisties.
Just before the next T-Junction, there is another great place to stop over for a cold one. After turning right at the T-Junction you will find one of the most beautiful and interesting mountain passes. The road has recently been resurfaced so it is really unspoilt. This road eventually leads you into Ceres where you have a number of choices for places to eat, or places to stay over - if you want.
Thank goodness I gave up smoking, but my mate still needed some
"fresh" air - as he still smokes. So we stopped on the top of the pass. [pic]
This picture is taken quite a bit further along- after going through the pass and on to Worcester. You take the "Goudini SPA" turnoff from the N1 and go through Slanghoek and eventually you end up having to cross the Breede River. Always a nice place to stop on route to either Ceres or to the Calabash Bush Pub & Restaurant.

Biker girls can be awesome. Never shy to throw a "flash".!

What a setting.! We stop and some dude is doing some fly fishing. Not my scene - but it looked awesome.!

Just another amazing picture - showing the clarity of the water. I am sure it would be awesome to swim in it on a hot summers day - not done it yet myself.!

Always mountains in the background.

Shortly after the Breede River, you get to a T-junction where you
turn left. At the very next T-Junction some 1,5kms further, you have the choice to turn right and push on to Ceres, or you can turn left and stop at the Calabash for a cold one.

Here you have a choice of sitting inside or outside. Outside is always nicer though.

Some nice shady parking for the bikes.

On route back from Ceres. You can take a different route back to
the West Coast via Riebeekasteel and Malmesbury. This is one of the streets in Rieebeek Kasteel.

We decided to stop at one of the restaraunts in the town before
pushing back home.

Riebeekasteel is smack bang in the middle of the Swartland. It
really is a very nice little town - that is well looked after by its residents.
